Hatta Heritage Village
Hatta Heritage Village is a beautifully reconstructed traditional village that offers a charming glimpse into the past. The village features restaurants, shops, a market square, and the entrance to Hatta Falaj—an ancient, 4km long underwater irrigation system built by the local population hundreds of years ago. While guided tours are available inside these tunnels, they aren't suitable for children under 4, so we didn’t take the tour ourselves.
Above ground, the heritage village has a few small pools and water canals that are fun to explore. Although some parts of the village are closed, it’s still a lovely place to stroll around and experience the traditional way of life in this region. The attached date farms, with their winding paths and lush greenery, offer excellent short adventure hikes. You can also hike from the Heritage Village to Hatta Wadi Hub—a great option for a scenic walk on even ground through the landscape.
There are two watchtowers on either side of the village, both perched on small hills with steps leading up. From the towers, you’ll be treated to a beautiful view of the Hatta valley.
If you’re hungry, the Al Hajarain restaurant at the entrance of the village serves a delicious variety of international and local dishes, making it a perfect stop for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
Hatta Heritage Village is about 1.5 km from Dubai, along a scenic route through the mountains and the city of Hatta.
